Weiss Kreuz: World's Nosiest Assassins
Have finally gotten my hands on the Weiss Kreuz anime. Random observations as of episode 6:
ETA: As of episode 13:
ETA: OH GOD, CAN'T SOMEBODY SAVE ME FROM THE EXPOSITION?
I have to go watch more terrible, wonderful anime now.
P.S. In completely unrelated news, I saw a guy who looked exactly like Mr. K the other day, right down to the suspenders and the hairstyle. No guns, though. Then again, you're not allowed to carry them openly in this state.
- This animation is really bad.
- CRAWFORD! But not nearly enough of him.
- Yohji has his NAME in his UNDERWEAR? What the fuck kind of assassin has his name in his underwear?
- Ken has a playful side. Why don't we ever see it in fanfic? He's always too busy angsting it up. My impression is that he's an essentially cheerful guy, who forgets about the angst when he isn't getting his face rubbed in it.
- Aya really is a major asshole. And and on the rare occasions he isn't being a major asshole, he'll do anything to avoid being caught at it. However...
- These guys are constantly spying on each other. There's no way any of them could carry on any kind of secret anything for long, because they'll get caught in the act for sure by the others.
- One result of the spying seems to be that they've all got an unhealthy interest in each other's love lives. I only occasionally see this getting played for as many laughs as it's worth in fanfic.
- One result of the spying should be that there's no way the others don't know about Aya-chan, long before they "officially" find out.
- Fanfic has much more convincing plotlines than any of these episodes so far.
- I need more WK fanfic STAT.
ETA: As of episode 13:
- Schuldig is exactly the way I pictured him. I love how subtle his evil is. Farfarello, I find even less interesting animated than on paper.
- Why is Ken always the one angsting when we've got Omi?
- I don't buy Omi ever actually liking Ouka as anything but a friend. I think she just wore down his resistance with her sheer pestiferousness.
- Yohji totally cracks me up with the winking and the sleazing. He reminds me of a guy I used to know. Wait, I married that guy. Whatever you do, don't marry Yohji, it's doomed to failure!
- Aya, Aya, when will you develop a consistent persona that makes some sort of sense?

It's my favorite anime - so of course, I HAVE to make fun of it. Especially the scribble fire in episode 1. Ah! Scribble fire....
And the multiple spelling error on signs and billboards...and the cheap animation. I think it's perfect for fandom simply because the characters are actually really great, but official storyline really isn't, so you have tons of stuff to play with. (It's not the "unofficial yaoi" for nothing.)
Ken is a dork. Dork, dork, dork. Personally, I think that (aside from the episodes which he is the center of - eps I always skip now-a-days) the writers actually forget he's there.
Omi is fun, but to me he's more of a back-up character. I like to focus on Yohji and Aya instead. (^^ Obviously.)
Aya is an ass. That's why he's one of my favorites.
And we think that Yohji is The Todd from Scrubs.

Ken is definitely a dork, but he's starting to grow on me as I watch the anime. Omi... well, he has all the angst in the world, but he still bores the hell out of me. Aya and Yohji are definitely my favorite Weiss. Aya, for all he's an ass, is a character type it's hard for a fangirl not to love, and Yohji is just... well... Yohji.
Still, it's Crawford/Schuldig for me all the way, baby. I can't get enough. I should know, because I've read it all and I still want more. God, I would KILL for a good, slow-paced Crawford/Schuldig story that starts from the very beginning and really takes its time, exploring all the interesting little possibilities that are hinted at by the series. I've read several really good ones, but there's never going to be enough for me, never.

Have you read anything by GuiltyRed yet? She does a wonderful job with the Schwarz boys.
